Launch of the HAPPIS project: Polymeris supports skills development for the hydrogen sector

Already recognized worldwide for its research on hydrogen combustion engines—notably through the ANR Delhyce industrial chair, the OpenLab Energetics (with Stellantis) and Soonly (with Phinia) joint laboratories, and the France 2030 Hyceval and PL-H2 projects—the University of Orleans is taking a new step forward by committing to the development of training for the hydrogen sector.

As part of the call for expressions of interest “Skills and Jobs of the Future,” an application was submitted in December 2023 by the University of Orleans, in collaboration with the University of Tours, INSA Centre-Val de Loire, the Orleans-Tours Academy, the Centre-Val de Loire Region, the CARA, S2E2 and Polymeris competitiveness clusters, as well as Centres Sciences and the Elles Bougent association. This consortium was selected for the HAPPIS project – Hydrogen: Industrial Applications and Safety, which aims to meet the skills needs of the hydrogen sector by 2030.

Polymeris, as a competitiveness cluster, will play an active role in supporting the project by facilitating links between industrial, academic, and regional players to ensure that the training offered is in line with the sector's specific needs.

Launch of the MAT4EU project

The European MAT4EU project (Advanced Materials for a Sustainable European Future), coordinated by Polymeris, will begin on October 1, 2025, and will run for three years. Funded by the Euroclusters initiative (Joint Cluster Initiatives EUROCLUSTERS for Europe's recovery) as part of the Single Market Program, MAT4EU is an ambitious initiative bringing together six European clusters active in the field of advanced materials.

This project was born out of an observation made by Polymeris and its European partners: despite cutting-edge research and some of the highest R&D investments in the world, Europe currently holds only 15% of industrial patents in the field of advanced materials, compared to 28% for the United States and 24% for Japan. This situation illustrates the growing risk of dependence of strategic European sectors on innovations developed outside the EU.

Polymeris receives 3 stars and strengthens its approach to excellence with the EFQM model

Polymeris has just been awarded the "3-Star" distinction for sustainable performance, a recognition awarded to only about twenty organizations in France. This achievement underscores the cluster's strong commitment to sustainable performance and continuous improvement.

In March, Polymeris initiated a structured organizational excellence approach based on the EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) model, a recognized European framework that assesses the overall performance of organizations using a 360° approach. This model takes into account strategy, leadership, organizational culture, results, innovation, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable value creation.
