As the year draws to a close, Polymeris celebrates a fruitful harvest with the confirmation of funding for several projects supported by the cluster. These funding agreement notifications are seen as welcome Christmas presents for the consortia partners involved. The varied and innovative projects cover a wide range of fields, from sustainable packaging and the recyclability of composites to the development of recycled raw materials and the use of hydrogen in light mobility. This series of initiatives testifies to Polymeris' ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability in the field of polymers.

  • B-SIMPLE, developed by Geneomat as part of Ademe's Innov'R program, is based on a cardboard tray delivered flat for shaping by the packer in a reusable former. The solution perfectly meets the 3R requirements of the AGEC law: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
  • FA MIX, supported by the Gabriel Lamé laboratory in Tours as part of the Centre Val de Loire regional APR-IR scheme, aims to unite regional players in additive manufacturing around the development of innovative technologies, including this project, which focuses on the development of mixers for complex fluids with similar rheological behaviors for additive manufacturing: concrete and elastomer. The development of mixing nozzles will make it possible, on the one hand, to insert recycled materials during the manufacturing process, and on the other, to achieve gradients of variable mechanical properties within the manufactured parts. The resulting developments will help to reduce CO2 emissions through FA processes, and generate new mechanical structures for new applications.
  • OPTYSONS is being developed by the GREMAN laboratory and industrial partners  PCM2E, PROTAVIC INTERNATIONAL and MODULEUS as part of the APR-IR regional program of the Centre Val de Loire region. Its aim is to study and optimize the properties of innovative functional polymers (flexible, conformable, shock-resistant, ultrasound-transparent) designed for ultrasonic coupling devices for medical monitoring and biometrics applications. All results will be validated on the project partners' industrial tools. The results will help to identify and understand the microstructural parameters of polymers that govern their acoustic properties, and will contribute to the establishment of phenomenological links. Ultimately, they will contribute to the industrialization, production and marketing of ultrasonic sensors, particularly in the medical and biometrics fields.
  • PLAIRE is a project run by Cycladd in conjunction with Clayens NP, AG Plast and IMP Saint Etienne, as part of the IDEMO regional program in Auvergne Rhône Alpes. It is part of the plastics recycling theme, with the aim of bringing to market new polypropylene-, polyamide/elastane- and polypropylene/polyamide-based RPMs (Recycled Raw Materials) with optimized and stable properties, prepared from waste materials for which there is currently no recycling solution. The products developed will be part of a fast-growing market for recycled plastics. As far as possible, waste will be collected locally, and PRMs will be marketed locally and nationally.
  • PHYRE, a project led by Extractive as part of Ademe's RRR program to improve the recyclability, recycling and reincorporation of materials, focuses here on composites, which are made up of a reinforcement (such as carbon fiber) to ensure mechanical strength, and a matrix (generally a plastic, thermoplastic or thermosetting resin) to ensure structural cohesion, and which represent a major challenge in terms of recycling. PHYre® technology uses a mixture of solvents at moderate temperature to degrade the composite matrix and recover fibers with mechanical properties similar to those of virgin fibers, but with 10 times less GHG impact.
  • RHYM 1114, 14-liter returnable hydrogen tank: The entire project is the result of intense collaboration between several French SMEs and start-ups. RAIGI and AdVenta have long been involved in the hydrogen field, working on complementary areas: the tank and the cylinder head. Together, the two companies have imagined a simplification of the function by merging the hydrogen tank and the cylinder head. This simplification is necessary for the commercial project envisaged for large-scale distribution of hydrogen applications.
