GAIO : une réponse collective aux exigences carbone des OEM avec Polymeris et elanova
Faced with growing demands from automotive manufacturers (OEMs) to reduce their carbon footprint, the plastics industry must accelerate its transformation. To support this transition, Polymeris has joined the new GAIO consortium as a founding member, alongside elanova and Physis Solutions.
The goal is to develop a collective, structured, and operational response to help manufacturers measure, manage, and reduce their carbon impact.
Why create a consortium? A response to OEM carbon obligations
- provision of shared tools,
- workshops for exchange between manufacturers,
- common methodologies,
- collective support for skills development.
This collaborative approach accelerates the transition while keeping costs under control.
Polymeris' role: accelerating the low-carbon transition
As a competitiveness cluster dedicated to plastics processing, composites, and advanced materials, Polymeris' role in the consortium is to:
- Unite manufacturers around a shared low-carbon vision;
- Share best practices and integrate carbon footprint considerations into innovation initiatives;
- Develop collaborative projects that directly address the needs of the automotive industry;
- Foster relationships between suppliers, processors, equipment manufacturers, and contractors.
With a network of over 600 members, Polymeris acts as a catalyst to promote this collective approach, which is recognized and aligned with the needs of OEMs.
Contributions from the GAIO consortium: a common methodology and initial results
The consortium aims to establish a common carbon framework recognized by automakers. Among the first advances:
- Definition of a harmonized carbon monitoring methodology adapted to the plastics industry;
- Organization of technical workshops bringing together manufacturers, experts, and academics;
- Launch of work to standardize environmental impact indicators;
- Development of a collective dynamic for sharing experiences and building skills.
These actions help to create a solid foundation for responding effectively to OEM demands and strengthening the competitiveness of the industry.
Who is GAIO for?
GAIO targets the entire automotive value chain:
- plastic transformers,
- material suppliers,
- equipment manufacturers,
- low-carbon solution designers,
- contractors seeking to harmonize practices.
Any company wishing to structure its carbon approach, anticipate future requirements, or strengthen its position with OEMs is encouraged to join the initiative.
Join the dynamic GAIO
Polymeris and its partners invite players in the automotive plastics industry to join the consortium to work together to build a more sustainable, transparent, and competitive sector. GAIO represents a unique opportunity to take collective action in response to carbon requirements and to promote the sector's efforts.
A webinar presentation to discover GAIO
Polymeris and its partners will soon be hosting a webinar dedicated to presenting the GAIO consortium, its objectives, its tools, and how to join the initiative.
It will give manufacturers the opportunity to ask questions, understand the concrete benefits, and identify how to integrate the approach.
