Launch of the CircVet project

The new CircVet Project starts!

Plastics are an essential part of our daily lives and they are everywhere, being an important catalyst for the progress of humanity. On the other hand, because of the way they are manufactured and used today, they are also responsible for 80% of marine litter and 26 million tons of waste per year. Furthermore, if we could recycle these materials, manufacture them more efficiently and apply circular business models, there would be a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions. These are just some of the reasons why the European Union has opted for a circular economy. (CE) in the plastics sector a centerpiece of its action plan.

The CircVET project therefore aims to develop the most comprehensive, free and tailor-made (according to the needs and problems of companies) CE training for plastics at European level. For this, companies are one of the most important stakeholders for the transition and we hope to help them play their role through knowledge. The plastics sector employs more than 1.56 million professionals in the EU who are directly involved and need to improve their skills.

To achieve this goal, we have a consortium representing companies in the sector, universities and professional training centers that will :

• Develop training materials based on business needs, covering the entire plastics value chain in 6 EU languages.
• Adapt them for use in VET and CSPS.
• Produce 9 MOOCs/NOOCs accredited by micro-credits.
• Develop a learning and connection platform
• Create strong links between universities, vocational training centers and companies
• Pilot and validate them with about 80 companies and 200 students in the sector.

The CircVet project in which Polymeris is a partner has a budget allocated by the Erasmus + program of the European Commission of 1,497, 955 euros and will have a duration of 3 years (36 months). The role of POLYMERIS in this project will be to build a long term relationship with companies that allows to have a continuous relationship with the professional market and contribute to the co-creation of materials. The work will therefore consist of collecting industrial needs and innovation in companies, concerning future green and digital skills. It is also planned an international labor market for specialized trainees.

The project is funded by the European Union and coordinated by AIJU (ASOCIACION DE INVESTIGACION DE LA INDUSTRIA DEL JUGUETE CONEXAS Y AFINES )  Its launch in early September brought together a consortium of 12 partners from academia, industry and research institutes and technology from Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Lithuania.
